The Sisiutl is a supernatural two-headed serpent and in the lore of the British Columbia coast is said to be four foot in diameter and up to twenty feet long. Sometimes in league with the Thunderbird is can live on land but mostly is encountered in the water. The body has identical heads on either end with a powerful face, sometimes human, midway. It was said to devour whole canoes, it is also said if you touch a piece of it you turn to stone. The Sisiutl is also seen as a protective spirit and painted above doorways.
